How does DayZBrowser get server data?

DayZBrowser uses the Steam Web API to discover public DayZ servers, then queries each one directly using the A2S (game server query) protocol over UDP to get real-time information like player counts, mods, and map details.

Is my data stored or tracked?

No. DayZBrowser does not use cookies, analytics, or any tracking. Your favorites are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device.

Why are some servers showing as offline?

Servers that appear in the Steam server list but fail to respond to direct A2S queries are marked as offline. This can happen when a server is restarting, experiencing network issues, or has recently gone offline.

How often is the data updated?

Server data is refreshed automatically. The poller discovers new servers every 10 minutes and enriches existing servers with A2S data every 5 minutes.

What do 'Official', 'Community', 'Vanilla', and 'Modded' mean?

Official servers are hosted by Bohemia Interactive. Community servers are run by players or organizations. Vanilla servers run the base game without mods. Modded servers have additional mods installed. These categories are derived from server metadata.

What is the difference between 1PP and 3PP?

1PP (First Person Perspective) limits you to the first-person view. 3PP (Third Person Perspective) allows both first-person and third-person camera. '1PP/3PP' means the server supports both perspectives.

Can I connect to a server from this site?

Yes. Click the 'Connect via Steam' button on any server page to launch DayZ and connect directly. You can also copy the IP:Port to use with the in-game server browser.

Why do some servers have a boosted player count?

Some servers use the 'requestPlayers' flag in their Steam listing to show inflated player numbers. DayZBrowser detects this by comparing the reported player count with the actual player list returned via A2S. Servers using this trick are marked as boosted.

Is DayZBrowser affiliated with Bohemia Interactive?

No. DayZBrowser is an independent, community-built project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Bohemia Interactive in any way.
